The chrome browser is very easy to now. With the update of the version, many new and useful features are pushed. But what should you do if you want to enjoy all the new features at once? So, take a look at Google Experiments today and turn on the features you like!

How to open the Chrome Experiments: Open chrome and enter “chrome: // flags” in the address bar to open the Experiments. This page contains new features that Chrome is testing but has not yet being released. After manual settings, you can use them in advance.

1. Turn on the Dark Mode

Many of our Internet products have their own dark mode function, even Apple has added dark mode since iOS13. After all, we are dealing with Internet products every day, and it is too uncomfortable to accept the damage of strong light for a long time.

Now finally, more and more software support dark mode, and some products that do not have dark mode have become outliers, such as chrome.

In fact, chrome has its own dark mode, but it is still in the testing stage and has not yet been opened. However, you can manually set it by yourself to use the new feature that is not yet opened in advance.

Specific steps: Open the Experiments webpage in Chrome. Enter “#enable-force-dark” in the search box at the top of the page, and then you can see that the search results below have a “Force Dark Mode for Web Contents”. Click the Default value behind, and then select the Enable to turn on dark mode.

After restarting chrome, you can see that the page has become dark.

2. Turn on the Reading Mode

Many browsers now have their own browsing view function. Taking Microsoft Edge as an example, you only need to click the reading view button next to the address bar to switch directly to the reading view mode. This is very useful for news reports or text content.

And Chrome also has a reading view, but you need to open it manually. The specific method is the same as above, which needs to be opened in the Chrome Experiments.

Specific steps: Open the Experiments webpage in Chrome. Enter “#enable-reader-mode” in the search box at the top of the page, and then you can see that the following search results have a “Enable Reader Mode”. Click the Default value behind, and then select the Enable to turn on the reading mode.

After restarting chrome, open a webpage arbitrarily. Then you can click the three-point to open the menu bar. Click the “Toggle reader mode” to turn on the reader mode.

3. Turn on the Tab Thumbnails

When there are many opened pages, hovering the mouse over a certain tab, the full name of the tab will be displayed. But after the “display tab thumbnail” function is turned on, hovering the mouse over the tab will not only display the URL, but will also display the thumbnail by touching it like the Windows taskbar. That is very convenient.

Specific steps: Open the Experiments webpage in Chrome. Enter “#tab-hover-card-images” in the search box at the top of the page, and then you can see a ” Tab Hover Card Images” in the search results below. Click the Default behind, and then select the Enable to turn it on. After restarting Chrome, you can touch the tabs to display thumbnails.

4. Parallel Downloading

As we all know, IDM is a download tool. IDM can increase your download speed up to 5 times than before. It can arrange the downloadable schedule, or resume half of the software. IDM’s resuming function can restore half of the downloaded software due to disconnection, network problems, computer crashes or even unwarned power outages.

Why is the download speed of IDM downloader so fast on the computer? This is because there are many threads downloading at the same time. In fact, chrome can also do it, but it needs to be set manually.

Specific steps: Open the Experiments webpage in Chrome. Enter “#enable-parallel-downloading” in the search box at the top of the page, and you can see that there is a “Parallel Downloading” in the search results below. Click the Default value behind, and then select the Enable to turn it on. After restarting Chrome, Google supports multi-threaded downloading.

5. Tag Groups

When there are many opened tabs, it is very difficult to find the web pages that need to be browsed from them. And sometimes many of the tabs that we opened are the search results of a category. So, if all tags can be grouped together, the displayed tag bar can be reduced exponentially, which will be used by us.

Specific steps: Open the Experiments webpage in Chrome. Enter “#tab-groups” in the search box at the top of the page, and you can see that there is a “Tab Groups” in the search results below. Click the Default value behind, and then select the Enable to turn it on.

After restarting chrome, you can use the Tabs Grouping. Right-click the tab. Choose to create a group or add to a group. After dividing, it is convenient to manage more web pages that need to be browsed.

6. Global Media Control

If there are music or movies playing on the webpage, we often need to open these webpages to operate when we want to close them. After turning on the media control, you can pause the playback of music or videos on any page. It is suitable for the length of the web page, which is very convenient.

Specific steps: Open the Experiments webpage in Chrome. Enter “#global-media-controls” in the search box at the top of the page, and you can see that the search results below have a “Global Media Controls”. Click the Default value behind, and then select the Enable to turn it on.

After restarting chrome, you can use this feature. Click the control button in the upper right corner on any page, and control the playback pause by operating it.
