There are three camera gaints on the market, they are Canon, Nikon and Sony. As Canon occupying the largest market, on July 6, 2020, canon released its lastest camera, Canon EOS R6.
When the Canon R6 released, Canon also released Canon EOS R5 at the same time. These two cameras are similar in many technologies. In contrast, Canon EOS R5 has 45 million pixels and 8K video shooting capabilities, higher positioning, and more suitable for professional users. But the Canon EOS R6 has a more affordable price, and the performance of 20.1 million pixels high sense is better, and the video shooting performance is also powerful. It is suitable for advanced photography enthusiasts or popular video studios.

EOS R6, as the second-generation model of the EOS R system, continues to create surprises.
To sum up, it has the following advantages:
The first one is that it has the full-frame CMOS image sensor with approximately 20.1 million effective pixels developed based on the SLR flagship has a good low-noise performance,
The second one is that the commonly used sensitivity is as high as ISO 102400, and with the autofocus brightness limit as low as EV-6.5, it is more comfortable to deal with dark scenes.
Also, the full-pixel dual-core CMOS AF is upgraded to the second generation, and the auto focus covers about 100%×100% of the picture area, and it supports animal detection.
High-speed continuous shooting of up to about 20 frames per second and hand-shake compensation of up to 8 levels of shutter speed provide support for clear capture of moments and greatly expand the shooting field.
It supports smooth 59.94P/50P 4K UHD movies, with Canon Log gamma and HDR PQ curve close to human visual effects, making professional video production possible.

The operating system that combines the advantages of the EOS 5D series and the EOS R series, the dual SD card slot design and the new large-capacity battery make shooting smoother and stimulate creative desire.
EOS R6’s powerful performance and rich functions have a wide range of applicability, helping users with different needs to record their own excitement.
Canon EOS R6 is a camera with excellent performance and excellent price/performance ratio. For mass consumers, this camera can be used for daily shooting, and for professional users, this camera is also suitable for starry sky photography, wildlife photography, sports photography and video shooting.
Actually, there are some highlights for Canon EOS R6
1. 3.69 million dot OLED electronic viewfinder (120fps refresh rate)
EOS R6 camera is not equipped with the same 5.76 million dot OLED electronic viewfinder of EOS R5, but the 3.69 million dot sharpness and contrast are still very good. The high refresh rate of 120fps (the camera is turned off by default to save power) means that there is almost no noticeable delay between the viewfinder and the real world, and the 0.76X magnification brings a very realistic immersive viewfinder experience. To be realistic, in most shooting scenes, the experience gap between the most advanced electronic viewfinder and the optical viewfinder of a traditional SLR is almost gone. But if you need to shoot some extremely delicate patterns or display screens, the moiré pattern in the electronic viewfinder may still be a problem. It is also worth noting that the viewfinder rubber eye cups of the Canon EOS R6 and EOS R5 cameras use a fixed design that cannot be removed by the user. This is different from the eyecup design of Canon’s previous SLR cameras.

2. Body anti-shake
Nearly two years after the announcement of “We know that we are working hard”, Canon finally added the anti-shake function to the EOS R series models. The EOS R6 camera is equipped with the same body anti-shake system as the EOS R5, which can achieve up to 8 levels of anti-shake compensation when used with an appropriate lens. With the blessing of body anti-shake, the EOS R6 camera (and EOS R5) is more practical than the previous model in most shooting scenarios.
3. New battery
The LP-E6NH battery used in EOS R6 is compatible with Canon’s previous models. The appearance of the LP-E6NH battery is the same as that of the LP-E6, but the capacity of the LP-E6NH battery is increased by about 14%. According to Canon’s official data, the battery life of EOS R6 is between 250 frames (electronic viewfinder 120fps refresh rate mode) and 510 frames (LCD screen power saving mode). In addition, EOS R6 camera users can also purchase the BG-R10 battery grip separately. The handle can be installed with two batteries to increase battery life, and it can also facilitate key operation during vertical shooting.
4. Full pixel dual-core CMOS AF autofocus with 100% coverage
EOS R6 camera uses Canon’s second-generation full-pixel dual-core CMOS AF focusing system, with 1053 AF frames covering 100% x 100% (horizontal x vertical) area of the screen (in face + tracking mode). At the edges of the screen, phase detection autofocus can still work. This also means that during focus tracking, the subject will not run out of the AF auto focus area.

The usual functions of AF autofocus are also integrated into the EOS R6 camera. The face+tracking mode can identify the eyes, faces and heads of people, or the eyes, faces and bodies of animals. In the use of F1.2 lens, center focus point, and single auto focus, the EOS R6 camera’s focus brightness limit can be as low as -6.5 EV. As far as the current shooting situation is concerned, EOS R6 is excellent in terms of target recognition, auto focus speed and auto focus accuracy.
5. EOS R6 is low price but not low quality
EOS R6 is positioned in the mid-range, which also broke the positioning level of the 6-series products in the SLR era. From the parameter point of view, it uses the same 20.1 million pixel CMOS sensor as 1DX Mark III, the same AF focus algorithm and DIGIC X image processor. It can be said that the imaging quality is basically the same as 1DX3.

In terms of video shooting, EOS R6 supports up to 4K 60P uncropped video recording, and also supports professional Canon Log curve. With the second-generation full-pixel dual-core focus, R6 basically meets the requirements of most users in video recording. We once again feel that the R6 is good enough to be used. Although it does not have the amazing video performance of the R5, as a competing product of the same level, the EOS R6 has not fallen behind.

It can be seen that this time Canon is finally on the right path of mirrorless development. Of course, EOS R6 still has certain trade-offs as a mid-range camera. First of all, the body shell uses polycarbonate and a magnesium inner frame. Not all metal of R5. Secondly, the EVF viewfinder of EOS R6 still uses the 3.69 million pixels of EOS R, and the shutter life is 300,000 times, which is not as long as the life of R5. But this does not prevent it from becoming the most balanced machine in Canon mirrorless. Finally, I can’t help but talk about the price.
The EOS R6 single body is $2499. I believe many Canon fans will be very excited after seeing it. It also has a strong market competitiveness. This machine has no obvious shortcomings whether it is still photos or video clips, and it also takes care of the price needs of ordinary users. The low-cost but not low-quality R6 will make Canon a beautiful turnaround in the mirrorless market!
