1. Pricing

The price of Photoshop2020 is $20.99 per month, or $239.88/yr. The price is a bit expensive compared to other software, but it is worth it to be able to use such a complete set of graphics processing functions. For large commercial companies, this may not be a big deal, but general private use may have a little pressure on capital.

2. Appearance Contrast

Compared with the previous version, the icon of Photoshop2020 has changed from a rectangle to a rounded rectangle, which is more rounded and cuter in appearance. Open the startup page, the illustrations are very beautiful and delicate, inheriting the usual magical style of Photoshop before.

The interface after opening is the same as before. The main placement method is the same as before. The menu bar above contains 11 and the menu, and the toolbar on the left contains all the tools. On the right is the property panel, which adds a lot of new icons and new functions compared to the previous one. I will talk about them one by one below.

3. New Features

1. Object selection tool

The 2020 version of the software has added a very useful function: the object selection tool. In the previous version, if you want to quickly select an object, you need to use a magic wand or a quick selection tool. But now you can directly frame the object you want to select, and Photoshop will automatically recognize the selection, but it may not be very accurate. At this time, you can choose to hold down Shift to increase the selection, or hold down Alt to decrease the selection.

This feature is undoubtedly good news for those of us who often need to cut out pictures. Although the previous quick selection tool can also achieve quick box selection, there are often mistakes in selection. Moreover, its recognition is not particularly accurate, and it is often necessary to use the quick selection tool for multiple selections, which is very inconvenient.

2. Consistent conversion behavior

In the 2020 version, whether it is to change the shape or the picture, you can directly drag it to zoom in. This is very suitable for our daily use, because we often only want to scale pictures or shapes in equal proportions, and do not want to change its proportions.

In the previous version, if you need to zoom in and zoom out in equal proportions, you need to hold down shift and drag the selection box. The operation mode of the 2020 version has been changed.

If you want to zoom in freely, you need to hold down the Shift key. And if you don’t like the new version, you can switch to the old version in the preferences. This is undoubtedly a good feature for some people who are used to using the old version.

3. Improved properties panel

I believe people who have used design software such as CAD should know that when we use these software to draw graphics, there will be a grid line layer on the back. With the help of these grid lines, we can directly refer to whether the graphics are aligned, whether the drawn lines are straight, etc., which is very convenient.

The previous version of Photoshop has no grid lines at all. If you need to add reference lines, you also need to select and drag in the menu bar, which causes great inconvenience.

In version 2020, you can directly create grids and reference lines in the properties panel. There are also quick operations to directly crop, rotate, adjust the picture size, etc. These new functions in the property panel directly save us a lot of time in our usual operations.

4. Smart Object to Layer

People who often use Photoshop must have encountered the same problem in the later stage: When you process a multi-layer image, first reduce the content in one of the layers, and then enlarge it after confirming it. It cannot be restored to the previous effect.

This is because when you zoom out, its resolution is reduced, and then zoom in again and mosaic will appear. So how can we avoid this situation? The answer is: convert to smart object!

The so-called smart object is a layer containing image data in raster or vector images. Smart objects can retain the content and characteristics of the image and perform lossless transformations. You can apply various distortion effects to the image without losing image data or reducing quality.

In the previous version of Photoshop, if you want to convert multiple layers into smart objects at the same time, you need to right-click the layers one by one, and then select Convert to Smart Object. If you directly select all and choose to convert to smart object, all layers will be merged directly.

In the new version, you can no longer be troubled by this problem. Simply select all the layers that need to be converted, and then convert. All layers will remain as they are and will not be merged directly.

5. Enhanced transformation distortion

In the previous version, if you need to perform face-lifting, the main way is to use the liquefaction function in the filter. In the new version, Photoshop2020 will enhance the free change function. Select the picture and use the shortcut key “CTRL+T”. Select deformation. Right click to select cross split deformation, then you can freely choose the starting point of the deformation.

It is very convenient to use this function to adjust the perspective of the picture and face thinning of the characters.

6. Preset improvements

Compared with the previous version, the presets in the 2020 version have become grouped. Take gradient as an example. Open the preset section of gradient. The overall interface looks more concise, and you can also directly drag the color to the layer. There are already some default common gradient settings above. If you like a certain gradient style, hold it down and drag it to the canvas. Then you can use it directly.
