For successful businessman, business books are undoubtedly in line with their identity. The thin and light business book can not only meet the need of business trips, but is also easy to carry.
ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2020 has two color schemes, namely “Immersion Black” and “Texture Black”, “Immersion Black” is the classic pure black design that ThinkPad has always been, and “Texture Black” is covered with carbon fiber texture on the A side.
No matter which color scheme, ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2020 uses carbon fiber material as the main material of the fuselage. After all, its name includes the word “Carbon”.
In most of thin and light business books, The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a product that I am very willing to recommend.
Although the price is higher, the portability, scalability, stability, security, and the screens and keyboards we care about all perform well.
In this year, I also bye the latest X1C. Now let us look at how it works:
Following are its advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages:
1. The keyboard and touchpad are so good.
2. Various configuration options, supporting LTE Internet access.
3. Good after-sales service, keeping home repair + global warranty for one year.
Disadvantages:
1. Short keystroke on the top of the touchpad
2. Skin-like coating is easy to leave fingerprints and not resistant to dirt
3.Compared with previous years, the product has less change in the 2020 years old.
Upgrade suggestion:
1. This laptop is not difficult to disassemble, and the back cover can be opened after loosening the bottom screw. (The screw cannot be removed).
2. Dual channel 16GB RAM can meet the needs of most people; the memory is not replaceable onboard.
3. Onboard RAM is not replaceable.
Purchase advice
1. High requirements on body material and portability.
2. High requirements for after-sales, and you are often travel globally.
The biggest feature of ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2020 is the combination of portability and lightweight. It uses a carbon fiber body, covered with a layer of coating on its surface and feeling more advanced.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon’s screen supports 180° opening and closing, and the 2K screen version is currently sold online. The measured color gamut volume is 101.4% sRGB, the color gamut coverage is 94.2% sRGB, the average △E is 1.78, and the maximum △E is 7.1.
In terms of battery life, the PCmark10 battery life test score is 10 hours and 29 minutes. (Scene: Modern Office).
In terms of noise, its full-load decibel value is 41.9dB, and the noise is relatively small.So, if you want a high-end business book, I would recommend finding a 3K channel to purchase a 2K resolution version. But if you like a more stylish and technological notebook, then this black-based product is not suitable for you.

For thin and light notebooks without discrete graphics cards, we use Stress CPU with lower load for stress test.
Under full load, the CPU temperature fluctuates between 73~88°C, which is regulated by DPTF, and the power consumption fluctuates between 13W~26W.
The average power consumption in the 30min test is 20.1W, and the frequency is 2.1~3.1GHz
The surface temperature is as shown in the figure above, the keyboard keycap temperature is up to 47.8℃, the WASD key position area is around 34.5℃, the arrow keys are 32.7℃, the average value is lower, but the highest temperature of the keycap is higher.
The temperature on the back is as shown in the figure above, with a maximum of 44.2℃ and a center point of 39.6℃.
In general, the heat dissipation performance of ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2020 is okay. For business books, performance release is not the focus, and the weight of noise and surface temperature is higher.
The changes of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2020 model compared to the 2019 model are actually not obvious. I briefly looked at it, and there may be omissions:
1. The entire system has updated the WiFi6 network card
2. Upgraded the low-end version of the processor (the high-end i7 has not changed)
3. Moved the X1 LOGO on the A side
4. A few more Skype shortcuts on the keyboard
In my memory, ThinkPad X1 Carbon has not been updated so often. So, students with tight budgets may actually consider buying the 2019 version, the experience gap will not be too big.
In my opinion, the place where X1 Carbon is in urgent need of improvement is the battery capacity. The official claims 19.5 hours of battery life. Although the test conditions are different, this number is a bit too fictitious.
We actually measured only 10 hours and 29 minutes. As we all know, the load of PCmark10 is very low, the actual battery life under moderate use will only be shorter.
Whatever, X1 Carbon is still my favorite business notebook, the excellent keyboard feeling so good is very few, this is a technology that requires time to overcome.
As far as I am concerned, I l really like the keyboard. The buttons on the X1 Carbon are light and textured to press, and every time you tap the keyboard, they give you a clear feedback. When the leather cups under the keycaps help them rebound, my fingers dance briskly between the keys.
I also like to have two backlight settings to choose between them, and this new keyboard has a hot key for typed conference calls, which is very popular. You can now answer or reject calls quickly with just one click.
Throughout the development path of ThinkPad X1 Carbon, since the radical use of the touch bar keyboard on the new X1 Carbon was widely criticized in 2014, every iteration of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon has become very careful.
ThinkPad will not take some Market-proven new technologies and new functions are brought to this first product, and they will not follow the market trend for non-practical changes, and once they find that a design are not approved by customers, it will be stopped immediately.
